Dr. Tarun Bassi, M.D. is a board-certified physician in internal medicine. He was born and raised in India and attended Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, where he also specialized in Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery. After moving to the United States, Dr. Bassi completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. His passion for serving the rural community prompted his move to Marshfield, Wisconsin.
Since 2004, Dr. Bassi has tended his patients as an outpatient internist. He also served as a director of a nursing home where he cared for fragile geriatric and Alzheimer patients.
Dr. Bassi’s patients and their families know him for his caring and excellent bedside manner. He is also constantly looking for new ways to help his patients. This prompted his involvement in wound care and hyperbaric oxygen treatment (in which he is certified), helping patients with burns and non-healing wounds.
A changing healthcare marketplace with ballooning costs and increased interference from insurance companies, including dictating patient management, has led to increased patient and physician frustrations alike. In response, Dr. Bassi decided to revert to traditional ways of practicing medicine in Arizona, allowing him to spend more time with his patients while making healthcare accessible and affordable, as it was supposed to be. With this in mind, Dr.Bassi started Valley Direct Primary Care to provide reasonably priced, affordable, accessible, medical care using cutting edge technology.
By cutting out insurance, he is able to remove the meaningless clerical working data-gathering demands that health plans generate. This reduces overhead expenses (billing and coding, pre-auth clerk, etc.) which he can pass along to the patient.
In his leisure time, Dr. Bassi enjoys biking and running. He also relishes churning out new dishes, travel, spending time with his family, and taking care of his dog Coco.
At Valley DPC, our mission is to improve your health and quality of life, heal your mind and body, and help you achieve your wellness goals so that you can live your best possible life.
Direct Primary Care is primary care without the baggage. Patients pay a monthly or annual fee which will cover all the services provided in my office. DPC practices operate with lower overhead and fewer staff. This allows for a more personal relationship and unlimited access to your physician.
Direct Primary Care and Concierge medicine are not the same. There are two main distinctions. One is the annual fee for concierge practices is typically over $2500. Direct Primary Care memberships vary across the nation, but at Valley Direct Primary Care, they are $1068/yr.
The second difference is that concierge practices collect a copay AND bill your insurance at each visit in addition to the annual retainer fee. In contrast, an active DPC practice member pays no office copay and we do not bill insurance. DPC practices have concierge level service at a much lower price, making it a perfect choice whether you have no insurance or great employer sponsored health insurance.
Yes. Membership in a DPC practice is NOT health insurance. I accept people with any type of insurance (or no insurance), but I do not bill any of my services to insurance plans. You will need health insurance to cover unexpected large health care costs such as ER visits, surgeries, hospital stays or significant health care issues like cancer. I will be able to treat most outpatient healthcare needs, so many people will do well having high deductible health insurance in addition to a DPC membership.
Yes. However, I contract directly with patients for my services, thus the monthly membership fee cannot be submitted to Medicare for reimbursement. Labs, imaging, procedures, and referrals can all be processed through Medicare. DPC would be a great solution for you. I provide low cost primary care that will be able to treat most of your health care needs. You do not need health insurance to be a patient of mine. Keep in mind DPC membership alone does not satisfy the Affordable Care Act mandate. At the end of the year you may be subject to a tax fine if you don’t carry health insurance.
I will see you regardless of whether you have insurance or not. Membership pricing applies.
That is great! Let me help you stay that way through preventive visits and provide appropriate screening for silent conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and early cancers. Also, if I can prevent you from having to go to the urgent care or ER by treating you for an illness or injury, the savings alone will have paid for your membership fees. Everyone thinks they don't need a doc - until something comes up and they really need a doc - and fast!
You can reach me via phone, text, email, even after hours and over weekends.
No, you are not able to pay your membership dues with the above-mentioned plans. Please be advised to discuss this with your insurance carrier or your employer. Having said that you can use these plans to pay for your labs, imaging, and medications.
One reason for ballooning costs in health care is the lack of transparency in pricing. And, in the traditional practice model, doctors are reimbursed based on the number of patients that come through the door. Both of these lead to higher prices, and rushed visits. A monthly retainer allows us to commit to the best care of a fewer number of patients. Which means time to be your advocate to find the most affordable tests and medications. And it gives you the ability to visit or call when needed without worrying about additional costs. One monthly cost. No hidden fees. No confusion
